Message from the Blue Origin University Relationship manager

Thank you for your interest in the Blue Origin internship program! Information about the program including applications, requirements, and due dates are available on our website. To be eligible for the internship program, students must have at least one semester of school remaining after their internship. We encourage you to apply early, as positions are highly competitive and we assess applications on a rolling basis. The application for Fall 2021 internships is currently available. All applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Following is information that may help when applying to Blue Origin:

  1. We love to see people who build things. It does not have to be rockets; it is best to have a great diversity in the number and kinds of things you have designed, built, tested, redesigned and rebuilt... This includes software and hardware.
  2. We look for applicants with leadership experience, particularly in a hands-on engineering team setting (e.g. Rocket team, Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Robotics Club, CubeSat) in college. If you led the effort to build something as well as had a hand in building it, clearly describe your leadership role when applying.
  3. Additionally we look for students with related internship experience and to exhibit their passion for space in the way they choose to spend their time.

Please feel free to contact us ( if you have specific questions that you can’t find the answers to online, and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn!

Apple Inc.

Apple Product Design, Alloy Engineering team is looking for MSE students with a computational materials background on top of metallic experimental experiences.

Undergraduate or graduate students who have taken MSE 311, 312, 313, MSE 477/542, MSE 478/543 or courses equivalent are preferred.

They are looking for candidates who potentially can take a gap year in their education and are willing to work in this position for more than one summer. Senior students who are graduating this summer are also welcome to apply. If you think you are a good candidate, please send your resume to with the subject line "Internship-Apple Position."

Message from Apple

The Apple Product Design, Alloy Engineering team is looking for interns available in Apple’s FY’22 (Sept. 1, 2021 - Aug. 31, 2022). The internship program gives students tremendous physical metallurgy and computational materials design exposure and experience.

While we can employ students for the summer of 2021 under this program, we strongly prefer candidates who are available for more than one semester during the fiscal year (e.g. winter + summer), or perhaps are interested in a gap year between undergrad and grad school. Due to the steep initial learning curve, we’ve observed the most effective and impactful internship experiences have occurred for students who have been able to intern for longer durations — ideally the full year.
