Final project guidelines

Composite Structures: Materials and Manufacturing certificate students are required to complete a final project of their choice.

Students are required to select three topics of interest and perform a literature search. We encourage topics related to composites repair or tooling, although students may propose alternative topics for approval.

Students should submit their proposed topics in early Winter Quarter to Navid Zobeiry and Aniruddh Vashisth. Once a topic is confirmed, students will conduct a literature review, prepare a written report, and deliver a 15-minute presentation toward the end of Spring Quarter.

Students must register for either 3 or 6 credits of MSE/ME 600:

  • 3 credits: students must also register for a 3-credit technical elective and submit a 10-page report.
  • 6 credits: no additional elective is required, and students must submit a 20-page report.

The presentation date will be announced around mid–Spring Quarter. During the project period, students are expected to send brief monthly progress updates (bullet points) by email to the faculty supervisors.
