Students will need to apply and be admitted by the Graduate School before enrolling in the Composite Structures: Materials and Manufacturing certificate program. All students must therefore meet the minimum admission requirements for graduate students outlined by the Graduate School.
The Department of Materials Science & Engineering will conduct a holistic review of all applicants to this graduate certificate program. Students will be able to apply for this program in the quarter preceding the start of required courses. Applicants will be asked to submit the following:
- Resume or curriculum vitae (CV), including:
- All professional, volunteer, community service, and military experience
- Any post-secondary education, including any degrees, certificate programs, other coursework, and professional development (even if not specific to materials or mechanical engineering)
- Statement of purpose, 1-2 pages:
- Why does this certificate program fit your educational, career, and/or personal goals, and what unique perspective you can contribute to the cohort experience?
- Unofficial/electronic transcripts
- For each degree, certificate, or other credit-bearing coursework legibly showing credits and grades (just electronic uploads or scans are needed, the Graduate School will request official transcripts if admission is offered.)
